Don’t Be Hard-Headed–Wear a Bike Helmet

“I don’t want to look like a geek,” is a common excuse not to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle.

But statistics show that bike helmets protect you from concussions. One step further, a concussion today can lead to impaired brain function later in life. That’s why ex-pro football players are suing the NFL. They allege on-the-field concussions lead to early dementia, among other things.

Wear the helmet. Statistics are cited here (cut and paste) http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/07/yes-you-really-do-need-a-bike-helmet/index.htm
But forget about the statistics. Compare the cost of a bike helmet vs the cost of an emergency room visit and MRI. It’s a …well…no-brainer.

While I’m talking about helmets, please wear one when riding a motorcycle or motorscooter. There’s a reason emergency room doctors refer to them as “donor-cycles.”

I’m just sayin’
