Rita Wilson, actress and wife of Tom Hanks, just saved her life by getting a second opinion on a breast biopsy, which revealed two things: first, that she had cancer; second, that the original doctor who said “no problem” was WRONG.
Statistics show that, particularly in breast biopsies, up to half–that’s right–half of breast biopsies are mis-read.
Asking for a second opinion won’t offend your first doctor. After all, if he was wrong, you just saved him from being sued. And a second opinion could save your life.
Just ask Rita.
