Another flu season is upon us. Who should get a flu shot? As you’ll hear everywhere, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems should get one. That’s just common sense.
But who SHOULDN’T get a flu shot? Don’t get one if you’re allergic to eggs (the flu virus, even though it’s dead, is grown in eggs), or if you have any type of neurological disease, make sure you get your doctor’s ok before you get a flu shot.
I once represented a man who had a neurological disease. He got a flu shot and wound up in the hospital for more than two years with Guillian-Barre Syndrome, which we felt was brought on by the flu vaccine.
If you get symptoms of the flu, call your doctor right away for medication like Tamiflu, which can lessen flu symptoms.
You know to wash your hands a lot and keep people from coughing on you.
