The Scales of Justice–How Fast Does My Case Get to Trial?
I usually tell clients from the beginning of a case to trial takes about 2 years. That’s because of court backlogs and judges who are quick to grant defense continuances. We move things as fast as possible, but many times, it’s out of our control.
The Scales of Justice Fanfare!
I have a suggestion for overcrowded courts. The Scales of Justice (fanfare!). Each court clerk’s office should have an actual Scale of Justice. The file is placed on it, and when it gets heavy enough, it tips the scale and automatically gets set for trial within 30 days. This would restrict needless filings and depositions and move things along faster.
